Sand sculpture festival with different themes every year.

For the 15th year in a row, the Søndervig Sand Sculpture Festival can welcome guests to an impressive exhibition within the world of sand art. Based on the theme "Life under the sea surface", 12.000 tonnes of West Jutland sand will be transformed and shaped into a multitude of marine life. When the festival site officially opens to the public on 27 May 2017, people will be greeted by pure madness from the seven oceans, where giant blue whales from the North Atlantic frolic near beautiful and imaginative coral reefs from the Pacific Ocean. But tread carefully! Because in the depths the pirate fish lie in wait to attack when the playful dolphins have caught your attention. This year's theme gives an insight into the ferocious and impressive world of sea animals, where both children and adults will be drawn into a performance full of life and adventure.

148.200 guests set a record number of visitors in 2016
In 2016, a record-breaking audience visited the festival site in Søndervig, where the theme "Africa's wild animals" attracted as many as 148.200 guests from home and abroad. This year's theme builds on the same recipe by inviting 40 Danish and international sand sculptors from the top shelf. And they have announced in advance surprises and an impressive set-up. Several of the sculptors are repeaters from Søndervig's first sand sculpture festival in 2003 - they know what it takes to pamper an expectant audience.
