The Brickworks Museum - Folkeuniversitetscentret Skærum Mølle
Distance: 27.92 Km
The Brickworks Museum is housed in the old forge from 1875 on the site where Vosborg Brickworks/Skærum Mølle operated from 1879 to 1957.
The brickworks industry played a significant role in the development of Skærum Møllegård and the clay pit was close to the brickworks at Skærum Mølle. Among other things, it created the financial basis for the site's technical development – from mill wheels to turbines.
Museum decor:
Geology: Clay deposits as a prerequisite for brick production - where and why - fossils in the clay.
Bricks: Different types, technology and tools – development from craft to industry.
Image collection: Social history of life at a brickyard – everyday life, working life and significant personalities.
Tours: There is a guided tour – which ends with coffee – at Skærum Mølle, get more information here .
The tour includes a tour of the center's buildings, while the history of Skærum Mølle's and Folkeuniversitetscenter's is told. The tour also includes a visit to Den gamle Brugs, the Teglværksmuseet and Per Kirkeby's brick sculpture Huset for Sten og Stjerner.
Groups can book a tour outside of normal hours. A tour lasts a good hour.
