Surf spot at Sydmolen in Hvide Sande

Distance: 12.85 Km

The surf spot at Sydstranden in Hvide Sande is one of the best wave spots in Denmark. It is divided into two by the new south pier - between the piers there is only access for surfers and practitioners of Stand Up Paddle (SUP), while windsurfers and kitesurfers are allowed to surf in the area south of the pier.

The spot is suitable for both beginners and experts, depending on wind strength and wave size in the North Sea.

For kite and windsurfers, the best directions are between WNW and NNW and over 7m/s. For surfers and SUPers, the best conditions occur when the waves roll in from directions between SW and NW, and the wind is weak at the same time. However, due to shielding from the piers, it is possible to surf and SUP between the piers in quite a lot of wind. Behind the dunes, in the car park at Tungevej, is Westwind Surf cafe. Here you can rent surf and SUP boards and sign up for surf courses.

In general, the area by Tungevej is worth a visit. Here is a motorhome pitch so you can spend the night, here are toilets and bathing area, the cafe with coffee, ice cream and equipment rental and good opportunities to eat packed lunches or even cook over the grill. A lot of people also come by and enjoy the sunset with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
