Provstgaards Hunting House

Distance: 21.60 Km

Provstgaards Jagthus is the perfect stop, whether you are on a walk, cycle or drive in West Jutland. At the museum you get an insight into what life was like at the beginning of the 20th century.

Provstgaards Jagthus is beautifully located at Skjern Å and Pumpestation Nord.

The small house was built in 1922 by the brothers Niels Provstgaard and Søren Kristian Jensen, Ringkøbing Fjord Museums bought the house in 1993. The two brothers lived off the nature around them, they sold e.g. fish and went hunting for otters - the house bears the stamp of them and of their lifestyle. Niels Provstgaard, who was a carpenter, built the things when the brothers needed them, such as the display cabinets for his beautiful bird collection. The brothers were pioneers in many ways and were some of the first in the area to get telephones, radios and motorboats.

The house underwent a major renovation in 2018 and is now ready to receive guests in the cozy old living rooms.

There are towing ferries close to Provstgards Jagthus, and the area is rich in birds and wildlife.

It is free to visit Provstgaard Jagthus.
