Ringkøbing Museum
Distance: 0.44 Km
Ringkøbing town is an idyllic market town from the 1400th century, where you will find charming cobbled streets, beautiful old town houses and grocery farms, which together hide stories from a bygone era.
Exhibitions about World War II
"Flyers in the night" is an exhibition that makes you wiser to the story behind the English bombers, Lancastere, which flew over Denmark's west coast during World War II. The focal point of the exhibit is a large 1: 1 scale dummy of a Lancaster. The exhibition tells through sound, film, original objects and large format images, about the planes that crashed, their missions and about the people behind.
Experience the exhibition "What the bunker hid - a German soldier tells". Most German bunkers were abandoned and emptied in 1945 or shortly thereafter, but one was completely covered with sand and stood untouched until it surfaced after a storm at Søndervig in 2008. In the exhibition you enter the reconstructed bunker and can see the film about the German soldier Gerhard Saalfeld. During the war he lived in the "disappeared" bunker and several of the objects on display are his.
City exhibition and special exhibitions
Take a journey back to life in Ringkøbing in the years 1800-1850 - and experience West Jutland's small capital up close. The painter Jesper Kirkegaard, known as Jesper Maler, was a master of detail, and in the exhibition his old pictures are enlarged to wall size.
